The Land Conservancy Barbados
Taking bold action now to conserve nature for the future
These are the spaces that protect us
No one would believe all the natural heritage Barbados has to offer. And soon, if we don't do anything, there will be very little left to enjoy.
Barbados is a unique island, protected by coral reefs and wetlands. It has lush forest with centenarian mahogany trees. We truly know so little of our island. What we do know, is that some areas are protecting us from hurricanes, some attract the rain that we need desperately, and some are the filter of our waters. Those ecosystems are the important mitigators of the natural events that shake us so easily. Without them, our chances of being impacted will increase.
If we had to name only one reason for conserving those ecosystems, it would be that we all need moments where we connect with nature, where our mind is at its simplest, that would be enough.
